Information for Parents and Guardians

Keeping Your Child Safe

Adolescence is a complex developmental stage when youth may experience depression and even thoughts about whether life is worth living. It may be difficult to understand a child's behavior or level of distress. It is important as a parent or guardian to recognize changes in your/the child and seek help.

How do I know if my child is at risk for suicide?

Who do I call for immediate help and what will happen?

Should I tell the school?

What should I do if I am worried about somebody else's child?

What can I do in an emergency situation if I think I am not getting the help my child needs?

Hurting yourself is NEVER the answer. There is help available…talk to someone now
